“How long should a video be?” Wrong question.

If you’ve ever been told your video’s too long or that people don’t have the attention span… send them this link to the 29-min video.

28 minutes. Two people. Talking about a screwdriver.

Over 4.3 million views. 12.4k+ comments. 176 Likes

A dramatic close-up of the LTT (Linus Tech Tips) screwdriver, centred in a dimly lit workshop with warm, orange backlighting. The tool is silhouetted against the intense light, giving it a heroic, almost cinematic presence.

One comment: “Never would I have imagined that I would spend 30 minutes of my life watching a video about a screwdriver, and actually enjoy myself lol”

Because the real rule isn’t “keep it short.”

The real rule is: “Don’t be boring.”

And be careful how you define boring.

Depth isn’t boring. Clarity isn’t boring. Substance isn’t boring.

What is boring? Vague ideas, slow starts, and content that talks at people instead of to them.

If what you’re saying matters — and it’s said with purpose and relevance — people will watch. They’ll lean in. They’ll thank you for going deeper than the usual 30-second surface-level waffle.

So next time someone says “no one will watch a 5-minute video,” smile politely and ask:

“Is it the length you’re worried about — or the lack of substance?”
